We all have ways in which we get in our own way. PERIOD!
It would be great if there was truly an "easy way" to create a lucrative business, but there is not. Everyday there are challenges: situations that present opportunities for growth. We can approach those opportunities with a sense of what we lack or with a sense of the strengths we have.
So what do you have that arms you in the everyday challenges of running a business? YOU!
You are your best resource.
You are your biggest asset.
You are the heart of your business.
Our brain is wired to look at the negative. And yes that translates to looking at the negative in ourselves. It is far easier to go to the default setting of what we lack instead of what our strengths are. Can it be that when we actually look at the strengths we have, there is a heightened sense of responsibility we feel?
When we look at our strengths and acknowledge them our brain actually lights up and gives off the "happy" hormone dopamine. This registers as joy in our brain.
"Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness. But when sadness visits us we become weak, our strength leaves us, our comprehension is dim and our intelligence veiled."~Baha'i quote.
Most of us are masterful at looking at our faults and what we lack. We can become just as masterful in recognizing our strengths and leading with them.
When we concentrate on our strengths we actually make better choices for our business, we can cope with the daily challenges that arise and we can make quick decisions to move forward in the most efficient way.
Here is a 3 step system to get started. In this simple exercise you are giving yourself evidence of your strengths and gifts.
1.Write down a recent business success you had. ie. signing on a client, booking a speaking gig, completing a course.
2. Write down what you did to achieve that success?
3. Write down what strengths and gifts you demonstrated to achieve the success? ie. determination, perseverance, care, diligence, resilience, seeing the end in the beginning, etc.
By writing them down you make a deeper imprint on your brain. Now you have a list of strengths that are evidence based to use in your next growth opportunity!
Now that is leading with your strengths!
